ITANAGAR, Aug 5: While supporting the proposed bandh call given by All Hrusso (Aka) Students’ Union (ARSU) of West Kameng district from 8th August 2011 within the Hrusso (Aka) and Sajolang (Miji) areas of East and West Kameng district in protest against failure of the authorities to give justice, the All Hrusso (Aka) Socio Culture Society (AHSCS), Sajolang (Miji) Elite Society (SES), the apex body of both the tribes has appealed to the state Govt. to fulfill the demands which include immediate ban on publication of book by the GGL publication, legal action against the publication for spreading wrong information in the name of knowledge. They further said that GGL Publication should beg public apology for publishing wrong information.
In a memorandum to the CM, the Society appealed him to intervene and deliver justice. It threatened to launch phase wise democratic movement until the justice is delivered.

ACCYWA team visits landslide affected area
ITANAGAR, Aug 5: A team of All Capital Complex Youth Welfare Association (ACCYWA) today visited the various landslide affected areas of the Capital region and expressed grave concern over the problems faced by the people.
The roads in Itanagar, especially sector roads, were totally damaged to the prolonged rain in the last two months, the association said.
Welcoming the announcement to release fund for renovation of the capital roads, it appealed to the CM as well as PWD Minister to quickly deal with the deplorable conditions of the roads.
Further, the union urged, especially to the home department, for immediate installation Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at various place of Capital Complex from Banderdewa to Holongi. This will not only help the people at the time of emergencies like landslide, road accident but also very useful in maintaining and law & order problem, it added.

ITANAGAR Aug 5: Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin took stock of the Banderdewa – Itanagar road which got disrupted since this morning following heavy downpour since last night. A portion of the road near Lekhi village was totally washed away by the gushing water resulting complete halt of the traffic movement.
The Chief Minister directed the concern engineers to immediately place their men and material to make the road through. However, by the time the CM had visited the spot, the work on restoration of the road was going on full swing. The road was expected to be opened for vehicular movement by late this evening. Gamlin was accompanied by his Principal Advisor Kiren Rijiju during the visit.

Sharing his concern on the Law and Order problems in Tirap and Changlang districts with Lt Gen Singh, Governor asked the Army Commander to ensure early deployment of the sanctioned Brigade at Khonsa.
While referring to surrender of several misguided youths in the recent months, including the three cadres from NSCN (K) on August 4 last, Gen Singh asked the army to provide vocational training to them. Such initiative will help these youth stand on their feet and ultimately get absorbed back into the mainstream society, he pointed.
Commending the Eastern Army Command for their professionalism and proactive role in taking care of the strategic requirement of the Frontier State of Arunachal Pradesh, Governor emphasized taking up of more Operation Sadbhavana projects through out the State by the Army.

During the 20 minutes long meeting, various issues pertaining to security, Arunachal Scouts, civic actions land acquisition for raising two Division of Army etc. were discussed.
Gamlin while insisting the Army to make good use of civic funds provided for development of border area, opined to include the village people and Panchayat members for success of the Samaritan. Army should also make use of the defence fund for repair and maintenance of strategic porter tracks, foot suspension bridges and log bridges in the border area which is equally used both by the army as well as the local people, since State Government is facing resource crunch. The helipads and other infrastructure built by the Army should also be allowed to be used by the civilians.
The Chief Minister while assuring all possible assistance from the state government’s end on land acquisition for Army said he has already issued directives to the concern Deputy Commissioners to expedite the process.
Gamlin extended his gratitude to the Army for realizing the Arunachal Scouts dream and hoped that more and more local youths could be recruited in Army, Airforce and Navy in the days to come. He requested the general to consider giving more emphasis on the local youths of the state in context to recruitment of Army personnel in the state.
General Singh on assuring to take up the request of the chief minister on priority said that Army had been doing various local area development programmes in the border areas. “We have been encouraging locals to take up horticulture, agriculture and dairy farm units so that the produce could be effectively marketed to huge army establishment located in the State itself”, the general informed. “We are ensuring that the people get more benefit due to the presence of Army” the General said.
General Singh further disclosed that creating ALGs in the interior outposts in order facilitate the Army and civil populace in the hour of communication crack down has already been initiated. He viewed that the state of Arunachal Pradesh has very tough terrains and the added heavy monsoon damages the surface communication creating havoc to the Army and the civilians. USPA demands Central intervention in eviction drive
ITANAGAR, Aug 5: United Siang Progressive Alliance (USPA) has demanded the President of India, Supreme Court of India and the PMO to depute a high level team to take stock of the recent eviction drive conducted by the East Siang district administration in Pasighat town where hundreds of thousands of people were rendered homeless.
It alleged that the district magistrate and the DFO, in the name of eviction, meted out inhumane atrocities to the public besides inflicting grievous injuries to many protestors by lobbing tear gas and explosives, said USPA in a release.
Further, the act of imposing 144 CrPC for more than a week fearing security breach in such minor case amounts to violation of Constitutional rights of citizens, it said.
It alleged that some officers and influential persons have been spared from the eviction drive while the ordinary people, who were evicted, have not been provided shelter till date as per rule.
It further alleged that Bulldozer operators were manhandled by the DM during eviction drive when they refused to destroy houses and the video clips of the incident were also seized from the media persons by the DM.
The FIR lodged against the accused officials at Pasighat Police station has not been registered by the OC till today, USPA said.

ITANAGAR, Aug 5: While condemning the alleged assault on a youth by the jawans on patrolling duty at D sector near I G Park on Aug 2 last, the Global Human Rights Organization has appealed to the home minister to initiate a departmental enquiry into the incident and give exemplary punishment to the erring personnel.
One Hugnya Basar yesterday claimed that he was mercilessly beaten by jawans on patrolling duty on national highway near I G park, D sector on Aug 2 without any valid reason.
Terming the alleged brutal act of jawans as unfortunate and uncalled for, the GHRO said it is a great injustice and violation of human rights. It appealed to the police department to look into the matter and take measures to check indiscipline among the personnel. The Rights Organization further appealed to the state Govt to provide financial assistance to Basar for his medical treatment who received head and face injuries.

Among the other wild animals, tiger is most respectable to them and considered as their elder brother. Nobody kills tiger any way. Killing of tiger is a great sin to them. The impositions according to Igu Mrahba in killing the wild animals include restrictions in eating some delicious items like wild mushrooms and many, followed by other categories of family restriction for five nights.
The rule is same for the hunter and the other who eat the hunted animal. If someone
inadvertently kill the tiger, he cannot go to his own home or the others house before
the completion of “asho aangni” (restriction period) for five nights. During the
time he should have to stay in jungle and have to cook his own food there. At first
an ‘Igu’ (traditional priest) will go with the hunter to the spot where the tiger

Joru Govt middle school cry for assistance
ITANAGAR, Aug 5: A coordination meeting of the staff, school managing committee (SMC), parents and public was held at Govt Middle school, Joru under Palin circle in Kurung Kumey district on Aug 3 last.
The meeting was presided over by the ASM cum chairman of the SMC Heri Kaha.
Addressing the house, the school headmaster Tarak Johny highlighted various problems being faced by the students, staff and school as a whole.
The meeting observed that the institution runs its administration without any aid or grant from the Govt since last two years. Moreover, as the students are deprived of stipends, ASM, staff, parents and volunteers are jointly running the hostels for last three years.
However, the ASM cum chairman donated ration items with an amount of Rs 10,000 for running the hostel during the current academic year. The ASM also donated a hefty amount for school administration. Observing the pathetic condition of the teachers and students of the school, the president of the All Heri Youth Welfare Association (AHYWA) assured to extend all possible support in years to come.
After discussion threadbare, the members of the house appealed to the Govt to sanction fund for construction of teachers quarters, hostels for boys and girls with proper sanitary facilities and besides posting of teachers and provision of the yearly grant and aid as permissible. The meeting also modified rules and regulation of the management committee for affective function of the school.
A social service was also conducted next day of the meeting in the school compound and a farewell ceremony was also organized in honour of the outgoing AT teacher Heri Yabang who was transferred somewhere.

ITANAGAR, Aug 5: All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) has appealed to the concern authorities to take immediate step for renovation of the village road and bridge which connects the Chemi village with Capital complex via Ganga village.
The Union in a release today said that Dokhoso bridge on the said village road which was constructed by the PWD in 2008 is on the verge of collapse due to soil erosion followed by heavy down pour yesterday night. Stating that the rain water washed away the road at the bridge point, the Union said the villagers, particularly the school going children will face innumerable problems if the road is not renovated at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Union also appealed to the health department to take all precautionary measure to contain any possible outbreak of water born disease in the district during rainy season. It claimed that diseases like diarrhea, malaria, cholera, and jaundice surface during rainy season in interior area of the district and sometimes the students and rural people become the victims of the disease, the union said and appealed to the health department to issue directives to subordinate health authorities to make available sufficient medicines in health centre to contain outbreak of such diseases.

While Centre is playing with the sentiment of people of the country here in Arunachal Pradesh our leaders are also ignoring the people who voted them to power as their representative for development of the state.
Chief Minister who was expected to share the pains and agonies of the people, is keeping mum and paying no heed to peoples' voice against corruption and tainted leaders. From the statement appeared in local dailies on August 5, it seems that our HCM hilariously made meaningless remarks against the people by threatening to take action against organizations resorting to bandh calls. He is strangulating democracy by snatching the people's constitutional right to rise against corruption. When a government does not pay heed to the public grievances people are left with no option but to resort to various democratic movements like a bandh call. Among the various democratic means band call is one of the extreme weapons for the people in our country.
There is constitutional provision to resort to peaceful band call or strike and here civil society is rather cooperating with the CM by raising the voice against tainted people so that government could react to check the illegalities and remove tainted ministers and officers. But his remarks in the media purported his dictatorship attitude towards the ordinary citizen who want a peaceful, and corruption free society.
The ARTIAF submitted several memorandums along with full proof and evidences against a minister and others, but the CM has not yet taken any action against the accused minister and others nor he clarified his position on the accusations. People cannot expect any good things from this type of leadership.
The CM should have ordered CBI inquiry into the heinous crime like planting of grenade and pistol in the vehicle of a RTI activist instead of defending the accused and threatening people not to raise their voice against wrongdoers.
Now a days it is seen that the government and ministers are misusing the judiciary in absence of a separate judiciary. We now need a strong Lok Ayukta bringing the Chief Minister and other Ministers and high officials under its ambit.
I appeal to all the youths and intellectuals and democratic organizations to be united and continue fight against corruption. RTI activists are not afraid of open threatening by the Chief Minister. His attitude towards these serious issues shows that he wants to run this government by dictatorship and oppression.

The other side of development
Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of the state Govt particularly the education department regarding loss of 5 beautiful buildings of Govt Hr Secondary School Nampong of Changlang District.
There is massive earth cutting for Trans Arunachal highway road works by Valecha Company from Lalpool to Manmao Changlang Road, NH road from Jairampur to Pangsau Pass bordering Myanmar and NEC road cutting by some other companies from Margherita to Changlang, which are clear indication of rapid road communication development in Changlang district followed by many PMGSY roads. people from various sections of the society in the district must appreciate the elected legislator of Nampong/Jairampur/Manmao Assembly Constituency and MLA Changlang Headquarter for bringing this kind of development in this area.
On the other hand, the contractor/company which took up the tender works have never assessed the climate/weather condition of the area. They have started work in wrong season just before monsoon starts. They engaged numbers of Volvo, L and T, JCB, Dumper, Tractor, Grader, Roller, Bull Dodger and what not for cutting down big trees/buildings/soil etc. and done a lot, but they forgot to dig drains throughout all the length of new cutting area which causes havoc to nearby roadside villages, Govt establishments, bazaar area.
In the process, the one RCC two years old Library building, 2 numbers of Type -
Hence, my appeal to Govt is that after losing of 5 beautiful buildings, the authority of Govt Hr Seconday School Nampong is facing acute shortage of staff quarters to accommodate teaching and non teaching staff as some of them are temporarily shelter in Class room converted quarters, but neither Valecha Company nor Govt is providing any of compensation against the lost due to the reason unknown to us.

The neglected road
Dear Editor,
I would like to share my grievances regarding the dilapidated road condition of Jully. Jully, which is one of the most important villages in terms of its geographical location in capital complex, is neglected by the state Govt. The most of the Govt infrastructure like the central jail, commandant IRBn, many private and govt. Schools, including Don Bosco College are situated in Jully. But the pathetic road condition from Itanagar to Jully poses a threat to the students and general public.
Formation cutting of the road from Papu Nalla via Jully for construction of highway in the month of April also made the condition of road more horrible. After the recent heavy down pour, the road now turns into a small river.
Therefore, I would like to request the state Govt. especially local MLA, students bodies to look into the matter before it's too late.
